Day 36

What a night! The fire alarms went off just after bedtime when the fire in the fireplace became pretty smoky. Scared the kids to death! Needless to say, it took me 45 minutes and conversations about fire alarms, blinking lights, loud noises, firemen, skunks, trophies, god, Hobbs, how their dad is "a real hero who deserves a trophy", Cinderella, trains, and ending with a prayer of thanks for fire fighters, rescuers, police, and doctors and nurses before they were willing to go to bed without me in their room. Ali was afraid that the alarms were going to go off again and wanted something to protect her ears....hence the hat she is wearing as she sleeps.
